Pulse jet soundproofing systems for Rumalia power plant of the Iraqi power grid
CTM Ambiente designed and realised the supply of 6 complete air intakes for the combined cycle power plant in Rumaila, Iraq. The Rumaila power plant is located on the outskirts of Basra, in southern Iraq, in one of the most sandstorm-prone areas on the planet.
Each gas turbine has a capacity of 180 MW. The first unit was synchronised with the Iraqi national grid on 9 June 2018.
The air intakes are of the self-cleaning type with a pulse jet system with an accumulation prefilter section to maximise the life of the high-efficiency filters.
The air flow rate is approximately 1,600,000 Nm3/h for each unit.
The system includes:
- 2 accumulation pre-filtration stages G3 and M6 according to ISO EN 779
- 1 stage of self-cleaning filters F9 according to ISO EN 779
The pressure drop is very limited because the filtration speed is kept very low.
